BASALTINA

The minimal and unique Basaltina stone has been quarried in a small town in Central Italy since 1925. Basaltina material is praised for its versatility and durability, used world-wide for variety of applications from paving + cladding, to dimensional pieces. Quarried Basaltina comes in the form of large, irregular, boulders rather than cut blocks. These boulders are formed naturally as layers of cooled lava and sediment alternate vertically throughout the quarry. The material comes in two forms - Classica and Selcino - depending on the layer from which the material is quarried. Basaltina Classica demonstrates a slight pattern of linear, horizontal porosity, while Basaltina Selcino is filled with a more irregular veining and porosity.
